Who we are

A Christian association born from a calling, carried by clear values.

Our story

HCOF was born from a calling in 2021, carried by its founder, Landry MBOM: the conviction that God is the Father of orphans and the Defender of widows, and that He calls His people to show this love in a concrete and organized way.

The association is established in Douala in 2027. From the start, it aims to be more than a shelter: an institutional ministry with a generational vision, turning broken lives into living testimonies of God's grace.

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress.”James 1:27

Vision and mission

Vision

To help spread the message of Christ's love everywhere, in a world that does not believe it. In practice: feed, teach, protect, restore.

Mission

To restore to the least privileged and the rejected the basic needs, spiritual, social and psychological, that they require to flourish.

Mandate

To wipe the tears of God's people from a painful past and give them back hope and a smile.

Our values

Human dignity

Every person we serve is made in God's image and deserves absolute respect.

Compassion

We serve with a heart moved by the suffering of others.

Humility

We recognize that every good thing comes from God alone.

Excellence

We give our best in everything we do.

Impartiality

We serve without distinction of ethnicity, region or social status.

Integrity

Our actions are consistent with our faith and our commitments.

The Vision Bearer

Landry MBOM, founder of HCOF, is originally from Cameroon and now lives in Canada. He holds the conviction that Africa's future is built by those who choose to invest their time, skills and faith there.

Some callings are not ours to choose. In 2021, I received the call to serve orphans and widows, as Scripture invites us to. I now live far from Cameroon, but I have never stopped believing that it is at home, with our own people, that our children's future is built.

HCOF starts small, because we want to do well what we promise: feed, support schooling, relieve hardship. We will announce nothing we have not truly done, and we will account for every gift.

Hope's City remains a long-term dream. I would rather we be judged on what we accomplish tomorrow morning than on what we hope for in twenty years.

If you believe that every child deserves a future, join us.

Governance

HCOF begins with a deliberately light structure, while keeping a clear separation between collective governance, day-to-day management and the founder's vision-bearing role.

  • General Assembly: currently six members. It follows the association's work and exercises the responsibilities assigned to it by the statutes.
  • Management Committee (CODIR): president, secretary general and treasurer, responsible for day-to-day management within the authority granted by the statutes.
  • Executive leadership: operational leadership roles and delegations will be published as they are formally established.
  • Founder / Vision Bearer: provides the founding vision and long-term direction; this role does not replace the association's collective governance bodies.
  • Committees: specialist committees will be presented only when they have been formally created and their mandates approved.
  • Financial oversight: accounts are closed every 31 December, an annual financial report is prepared, and external review or audit may be used as the organization develops.

Names, roles, short biographies and an organizational chart will be added as appointments and governance arrangements are formally in place. HCOF will not publish roles or bodies that have not actually been established.

HCOF's statutes are prepared under the applicable Cameroonian framework on freedom of association. Registration references and finalized governance documents will be published once formally available.

Documents & transparency

HCOF intends to build a public document repository as the organization matures. A document will be published only after it has been formally adopted, issued or approved; we will not create policies simply to make the website appear more complete.

Founding & governance

Statutes, internal regulations, organizational chart and formally adopted governance documents.

Accountability

Annual reports, financial reports, major project reports and, where applicable, external audit or review documents.

Safeguarding & conduct

Child safeguarding policy, code of conduct, conflict-of-interest policy and complaints/reporting mechanism once formally adopted.

Integrity & strategy

Privacy policy, anti-fraud/anti-corruption policy, strategic plans and other approved institutional policies.

Publication principle: current, approved documents only. Drafts and policies that have not yet been adopted will not be presented as official HCOF documents.
